What is Domain Registration?

Domain registration is an important aspect of your online identity. For a company, having your domain name secured in as many tld's (top level domains) as possible will save hassle further down the road if your brand becomes well known.

'Premium' Domain Name Registration and Fees

Certain domain names are classed as Premium by the Registry and therefore attract higher registration fees and in some cases renewal fees. A domain classed as a premium domain is solely at the discretion of the domain name Registry and not under the control of Hosting Ireland.

What is a Premium Domain? The Registry can identify domain names as premium for a number of reasons, the most common being that the domain maybe considered potentially higher in value in the future. For example the domain could be short having fewer characters, could reflect a brand, a name, a concept or an idea in some way. If the domain would be instantly recognisable by a customer this could attract a premium fee.
